Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Titanium Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Watch #BL5250-53L Customer Review: Awesome watch As advertised, the watch is lightweight due to titanium band. Easy to read and adjust. Customer Review: Great watch with unusual second and minute hand behavior The watch is great. It does everything it's supposed to do, and does it well. The titanium makes it light, even though it's big enough to read from a distance and look like a serious piece of machinery. A couple of details that might be of interest to people considering buying one: 1) The second hand jumps around a lot. To explain, the watch is solar, so power conservation is a must. When the watch is in the light, and the watch is in normal mode, the second hand ticks like you'd expect. When the watch is in darkness, the second hand stops at 12 and just sits there until it's light again. When it's exposed to light, the second hand quickly skitters to the correct second. The drive mechanism on this watch is more like a motor than a "normal" movement. This second-hand skitter happened to me all the time because I often wear a suit or coat that covers up the watch. I don't know why, but it bugs me. I solved the problem by leaving the watch in chrono mode, where the second hand never moves unless you're timing something. 2) The minute hand moves visibly. Same reason as above. Each minute is divided into 3-6 "chunks," and the minute hand moves every 10-20 seconds in a discrete "tick." 3) The second hand on my watch never points _exactly_ to 12, which is a little annoying to my OCD sensibilities. It's maybe a quarter or half of a degree off. 4) A pin fell out of the band within the first few weeks I had it. I think the jeweler may have crushed the spring out of the pin when I first had the band resized, but I'm not sure. (The pins are actually very elongated cylindrical wishbone shapes, not just metal cylinders.) No one around me (in NYC!) carried a replacement, so I had to order from Citizen, which cost $6 and took 1.5 weeks. Overall, though, still very happy with it and wear it most days as my daily watch out of a decent collection.
Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Skyhawk A-T Titanium Watch #JY0010-50E Customer Review: great watch all the way around I went a long time thinking about a watch and finally decided to make a decision. I had Rolex and other high end names in mind when I started and was ready to spend the $$ to get what I wanted. However, Citizen provided me with a nice package of options on this watch at a very reasonable price. I cross time zones often so the ability to switch to my local travel time while knowing the date and time at home are important to me. Having not worry about batteries is a big bonus and the automatic time setting means one less thing I need to think about. If you are thinking about saving a few bucks by not getting the Titanium model... buck up! There is a world of weight difference between the titanium and stainless steel mode. Unfortunately I could not find one dealer in my area that carries the titanium model so I had to go on faith. Maybe you won't have to take the same leap of faith I did. If you do, I can only say I was not disappointed. I was shocked how much lighter it is. Customer Review: great state of the art technology watch at a reasonable price This is the watch to get if you want the state of the art technology in a watch and at an amazing reasonable price. You can shop aound for the best deal and if you do not mind the risk ebay has a few shops offering it at half off. I buy most of my stuff from amazon but sometimes ebay has extremely low price. I did get cheated twice on ebay and always only buy from ratings >99% with a lot of sales. Most people buy this model first of all for the atomic clock. I live in California and it works great. At first I try to connect to the atomic clock transmission "on demand". I am not sure why it did not get the signal. Then I put it next to the window of my second floor bed room. Next morning when I check it did updated by the atomic clock. (I check against the US clock on the web and also the status shown on the watch that said it successfully received signal from the radio and set the time with it) The second most likely reason to buy this watch is for the solar power. The watch when I receive it already is fully charged (unlike most cell phones). The manual said it will run for 6 months if fully charged. To fully charge the watch from almost completely discharged takes 20 hours under the sun or 60 hours with cloudy sky. I'll have to put it under the sun once every 3 month or put it under my desk light once a week. I wear my watch under long sleeve shorts and never expose it to light. The third reason is for the weight (titanium). Even though the watch is "Hugh" it is light, lighter than a standard Rolex. I have not tried the other versions of the same watch, but you can save $50 to $100 for other versions that are heavier. If I have a second choice it would be the black belt one which will give the watch a cooler look in color. There are a lot of functions this watch can do and most of which I am not going to use. The watch come with a cd that has all the info you need for adjustments to the watch. That is much better than the very small print manual which I have a hard time reading. I make a copy of the cd onto my laptop. I can assure you I cannot remember how to do most of those things without referring to the documentation. I'll give you one example. The watch has a home clock and a second "world" clock which you set to a city you travel to most often. Let's say now you fly there and you want to switch the two clocks. 1. Pull the crown to position 1 (there are 2 positions). 2. Turn the crown to adjust the mode to tme or cal (there are 8 modes). 3. Push button A and B at the same time until you hear a sound. The two clocks will have been switch. 4. Turn crown back to original mode. 5. Return crown to original position. It is easy if you follow instruction but difficult to remember. The size of the crown is big compare to other watches like the standard Rolex. It is ok if you only need to do a few things. If you try many things like me when I got it new, you break your nail. So you may want to get a tool to help you if you are planning to use the crown for more than 10 minutes. Almost all adjustments require using the crown. The chronograph functions once set you will only use the two buttons and not the crown any more. Same for the 2 alarms once it is set. There are many more pro's for the watch but I want to say something about the con's. The led display is too small for me and even when using the light it is hard to read. If you really want to use the digital readouts a lot you have to have very good eyes. I have yet to find out what is the use of the UTC hours and minute hands? 12/16/2008 Now I have used the alarm a few times I would like to add a few comments. There are 2 alarm settings. They are all very easy to do. The alarm setting is in the digital section. Be careful about the am and pm setting. It is not by the hr and min section and is at the bottom next to on and off. Someone else said the alarm is difficult to hear but I found it is quite acceptable and laud enough for me.
Citizen Men's Aqualand Duplex Dive Watch #JP1040-09E
Customer Review: Great stylish watch I ordered this watch for a friend in Germany who has not yet seen it. He is coming here at the end of August and will pick it up then. It was considerably cheaper here than in Germany. It's great looking and keeps perfect time but then the Citizen brand is always dependable. Customer Review: Great watch - for diving only I got this watch to replace my Luminox that aquired a cracked crystal on a dive and flooded. My first impressions were fantastic, but I ran into the problem that if I sweated, or if the humidity in an area were too high, the watch would go into dive mode. End result is that the battery is dead in less than 3 years, AND the watch can only be serviced at an authorzied Citizen service center. If you are looking for a watch to ONLY dive with, this is a great watch. If you are looking for something to dive with and to wear every day, look elsewhere. |
Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Titanium Chronograph Watch #AT0400-57E Customer Review: Great watch and excellent value This is a great watch. It is powered by light so no need to worry about batteries dying. And it is very lightweight. The titanium makes it feel like you are not wearing anything. Highly recommended. Customer Review: Titanium is the way to go! This is my first metal band watch. My girlfriend has a $650 Michelle watch that probably weights 10 pounds! I am very pleased with this watch and the fact that the titanium construction makes it so light that you'll forget you're wearing it! Bonus: The finish is darker than most S.Steel watches and it's just awesome!
Citizen Men's Eco-Drive 200 Meter Chronograph Sport Strap Watch #AT0660-05E Customer Review: Light attachtive , sport watch Bought this watch for everyday wear and an occasional water usage. Very light Titanium body. High constrast easy to read for aging boomers, without reading glasses. After being in light, the hands will glow all night, for bedstand use. Fashionable for casual and dress wear. Although I do have other watches for formal dress wear. Like never having to buy another battery. My favorite watch for everyday wear.
Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Titanium Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Watch #BL5350-59L Customer Review: Beautiful, bezel feels a bit loose, complicated to set This is a beautiful watch, I agree totally with other reviewers on that point. The waves on the face are very attractive, and the overall look of the watch is very handsome without being too tech or too fancy. I do not find the watch "too light" as some others have. I have some other titanium watches, this watch feels as solid as they do, it is certainly lighter than my steel watches, but "heft" and "quality" are not the same to me. It's naturally lighter than steel such as the Seiko Velatura series Seiko Men's Sportura Retrograde Chronograph Watch #SPC001, but definitely not so light so as to feel flimsy. Turning the bezel on this watch gives me a feeling that the mechanism is a bit rough, since it does not turn in a super smooth and precise way, but it seems to work fine, I have no functional problems with it. The bezel wiggles a bit as pointed out by other reviewers. Setting this watch is classic Citizen, which is to say, somewhat complicated. With mine I had to perform a zero-location all reset, followed by a time set, then a date set, then a leap year set, then a month set. The process was pretty confusing at first, and the hands kept moving in random ways until I got the hang of it. Maybe it would be easier if I wasn't such a numbskull -- I'm just a professor of surgery in a well-known Boston medical school ;). Hopefully, I won't have to set it frequently. To their great credit, Citizen has a very useful website that is easy to navigate and it saved me from almost giving up on this watch by leading me through the setting process with clear, flash-video based instructions. The chronometer function is easy to use. The 1/20 second indicator hand seems pretty much useless, but who knows, maybe I'll be using this to hand-time the next Olympics.....or not. I I don't think I can start the timer with 1/20 of a second accuracy, nor can I stop the timer that precisely, so the reading on the 1/20 second dial is just eye candy. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Overall a beautiful, accurate, functional watch at a good price. Customer Review: Is Eco-Drive Perfect? This is an all Titanium watch though the specifications above say the bracelet is stainless steel. This watch weighs 100 grams (45mm wide) while another, slightly smaller Titanium Eco-Drive weighs 88 grams. The bracelet accents are polished and the rest of the bracelet brush finished. The dual-button release clasp is brushed and the buttons are flush to the clasp, you must depress them. You can only resize the bracelet by removing links, the clasp is not adjustable in any way. There are 2 half-width links for more fine adjustment possibilities, a welcome feature. Omega Seamaster design cues are numerous: the deep blue watch face, the blue bezel, the wavy line pattern on the solar cells(!), the bracelet design, button placement. This is an understated version of a Seamaster while only costing just about as much as tax on a Titanium Seamaster! Also with zero maintenance costs for required servicing. A potential issue is the slight play in the one-way bezel. It has give and can wiggle around, it is not as rock solid as some Citizen models. If the bezel stays just this loose for the life of the watch, that's acceptable, as it feels "broken-in". A prior Eco-Drive I wear is still flawless after a decade of near daily use. I can only hope that the more complex mechanism in this model is as bullet proof. It feels like it is so far, the only complaint has nothing to do with the watch: the famous Green Citizen's Box is a thin cardboard joke compared to the thick, cylindrical velvet-lined watch mausoleums they used to supply. This is a lot of watch for the money, and an obvious Seamaster Variant.
Citizen Men's Eco-Drive 200 Meter Professional Diver Watch #BN0016-04L Customer Review: Not all that! These are nice to look at, but I had bad luck with mine. Not long after the warranty ended I noticed the second hand skipping two seconds. Which is an indicator of it needing a charge. So I placed it in the sunlight. Not a hot location like they warn against. Well, to make a long story short, it didn't charge and eventually died. I took it in for repair and $90 later it worked fine for about a year then died again. Perhaps mine was a lemon. Although the jewelry store I took it to for repair said it wasn't unusual for these Eco's to need repairing. After the repair I followed their re-charging instructions which came back with the watch and still had problems. I see what most folks say about them and I do like the "Idea" but can't risk buying another. I replaced this one with a Seiko Kinetic and it seems to be holding up well. Think I'll stick with Seiko. Customer Review: Citizen Diver Watch - Solid & Reliable I bought the watch before a dive trip to the Caymans. It was a extremely reasonable priced Titanium dive watch from a well established watch maker. The oversized bezel is well made and easily turned with or without gloves. The large luminescent features on the watch are amazing. When fully charged it glows even in daylight, and no problem at night on a deep dive. It took abuse well.

Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Titanium Watch #AT0100-51A Customer Review: Great except for one thing... I got this watch the other day, thru Amazon, but from Next Day Watches. Delivery was excellent, in a free gift box too. And Next Day, was in fact Next Day..free. This watch is very attractive, light. Replaces a similar Citizen I have wore for 10 years. I puchased this watch for a couple reasons...titanium lightness, White (almost white) face, and rotating bezel which I use a lot. Now my complaint....I can hardly turn the bezel. I have to take the watch off, and dig my finger nail into an edge and drag it. Anybody else see this problem? Next Day watches responded quickly to my email and checked some others and said they were "Tight" (offered me a refund or repl, but I have not made up my mind) May go to mall and see if I can find this watch to try the Bezel. Meanwhile, it looks as tho Next Day Watch is a great Amazon Partner. Other than the Bezel, this watch is really nice. Customer Review: Nice, but if the crystal ever needs replacement, good bye waterproof I have this watch, and I generally like it, but I cannot take it in the shower or the bath, much less in the ocean, because it is not waterproof. I had to replace the crystal (sent to service center by seller, as stated by other reviewer it takes weeks) and thereafter it has not been waterproof. The first couple of times the movement had to be replaced, it was under warranty at least, but the last time it cost me. I have had no problems with the wrist band. Frank Scalfano
